June 29

We went to see "Get Smart" Friday night with our kids. I'm sorry to say I cannot recommend this movie. Yes, it was funny and clever and exciting. But it also was very offensive in that it had some "gay" innuendos and scenes that were totally unacceptable. I don't want to see two men kissing, no matter how funny it may seem. To me, that is just Satan's subtle way of getting us to put up with, and even accept the unacceptable. Sad how Hollywood gets us to think it's okay to view garbage. I'm just sorry my kids saw that trash during a family activity.

June 26

Today I drove all the way from Salt Lake City to Peoria, AZ. It took about 11 hours - left Katie's around 5 AM and got home at 4:00 PM. About 680 miles. I prayed all the day before that I would not be drowsy while driving. My prayers were so answered! We just buzzed along, no problem. Saw beautiful wild flowers along HWY 20 in Utah, and a beautiful little 3 point buck crossed the road in front of me. Met up with Rod in Flagstaff as he was coming home from a Young Men's Super Activity, and he and Nick rode the rest of the way with Becca and me. It was so good to get home.

Sherry and Terry - my dear friends since first grade. They lived across the street from me growing up, and we shared much of life together. It was so much fun to meet them for dinner. We can always pick up right where we left off. It's wonderful to have lifelong friends like this. :o)

My dear old dad - 82 years. I got to spend the entire day with him - we went to church, I made Sunday Dinner, we visited, and went to my sister's house, too. It has been several years since I could spend Father's Day with my dad. It was a very special time today. I love you, Dad!

We also saw Rod's mom Donna, and his brother, James, and family. What a nice day.

June 12

Tonight, Dave made his famous Monterey steak dinner for his siblings. Janet and Lenny were too sick to come, but we still had fun! We marveled at the wonderful food and how abundant our lives are. Dave said "This is America. We don't eat because we're hungry, we eat because it's time!" How true...

The weather was cold and rainy today. Rod and I went to the Gateway Mall. We had lunch at the California Pizza Kitchen (what a GREAT place to eat!), watched an Imax movie at the planetarium, and then took Becca to the Cafe Rio for dinner and then to the new Indianna Jones movie.

Savannah wanted me to take her picture with her grass man. She planted the grass at school, put the face on the cup, and watered the seeds. Now that the grass has grown, she keeps his hair trimmed to different and stylish lengths.

June 7

Today begins our vacation in Utah. We loaded up the car and left Phoenix at 4:30 AM. It was a beautiful drive, with Rod doing most of it. 12 hours later, we arrived at Ryan and Katie's house. Katie had a wonderful dinner all ready for us. We enjoyed a leisurely dinner, totally abandoned our WW program and had some WONDERFUL chocolate pie for dessert. I took several pictures and there were just too many happenings today to pick just one, so maybe these will show the events of the day a little bit. We have enjoyed seeing our family tonight. The grandkids are adorable and hilarious! I miss them so much and it is wonderful to hug them, laugh with them, and tuck them into bed. This is going to be a wonderful vacation!

Ryan likes to think he is the champion of Bandu, but I really am!
Rebecca hands Julie her next piece. Katie is coaching...
We drove 12 hours today so that Julie and Becca could
steal my camera and take their amazing self-portraits.

Katie is laughing at Becca's Bandu tower.

Savannah is modeling her beautiful pajamas.
Eric and Emily came by with their new toy!
The whole drive was worth this precious smile!

My last day of work at Sunnyslope.
This is Tammie.
We really had a great time together in our tight little office space.
We have laughed, cried, and shared many things together.

This is my kitchen window. The beautiful flowering plant was given to me today by Tammie, the sweet friend I have shared my office with at Sunnyslope since I started working there the first part of October. It was her goodbye gift to me. Isn't it beautiful! It is call a "Sun Star." Thanks Tammie. We have had many laughs together. I could not have asked for a better "room mate."

Look who came to spend the night! Kaela and Becca are watching "Disturbia" on Beccas computer. I told them to be careful and not break the bed. Kaela wanted to know if that was a "fat joke." I don't think she knows about the time that poor little bed frame shattered when Becca threw herself down on it. It has been rebuilt and reinforced. I really don't think there is any danger of it breaking again!

June 2

Back in the birthday saddle again. Yeeee haaaaw! We went to the Texas Road House Grill for an early birthday celebration. Nick did not have to work tonight and we wanted our whole family to go out for this one.

Becca, Jacque and Nick after the placed their orders for dinner.

The kids were very excited to have their prime rib.

This is what their faces did when the server came back to our table to say they were out of prime rib. I think Becca looks pretty ticked off! Notice her cute new hair cut.

Sam, Trudy, and Jacque came with us. We always love it when we can get together with our dear friends. Thanks for coming, guys! It was way fun.

June 1

Tonight I thought it would be fun to play some games after Sunday dinner. Each person was doing their own thing and it bothered me that the 4 of us were not doing something together. So I went in the family room, got out the Mancala game, set it up and sat there. Becca said "are you hoping someone will come and play with you." I told her yes, so she did. We actually had fun.

Then I talked Rod and Nick into joining us for a rousing game of Catch Phrase. We really did have a ball. I have always loved playing games and I just have to insist that it happens sometimes! Some of my favorite memories are playing games with Becca and Nick around the table and all the laughing we do.
